Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actress who hails from Manama, Bahrain and was raised in a multi-ethnic family. Her father Elroy Fernandez comes originally from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. There are two brothers younger than her and a older sister. Her family was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents had relocated to Bahrain in the 80s as a result of the turmoil that occurred in Sri Lanka. Schooling was finished within Bahrain and she won an Scholarship for the University of Sydney. There she was awarded the Media and Communications degree. She went to the Berlitz School of Languages which helped her improve on French, Arabic and Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006 and she was also crowned Miss Universe 2006 also. Following her 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone made her debut on television as host of a TV show on Sri Lankan business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone's father was a badminton player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has been raised both in Copenhagen as well as Bangalore. When she was a teen, Padukone competed in a variety of National badminton competitions. She eventually gave up the sport when she decided to be a professional fashion model. Padukone is a native of Mangalore, India. Her mother tongue Konkani is her origin. Padukone is a village located in Kundapura Taluk located in Udupi in Karnataka State of India, is where her ancestry comes from. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend before retiring in the 1980s. The mother of her daughter, who worked for a travel agency, also hails from this village.
